June 17th, Iceland's National Day, began with a cloudy sky and an incredibly calm sea, smooth as a mirror. As the day went on, light rain arrived and the wind picked up slightly, causing small waves. Despite these changes, the sea remained mostly calm throughout the day.

During the tours, we had multiple amazing whale encounters. In the morning, we saw a Humpback and a Minke Whale near the green buoy, and later another curious Humpback near Hjalteyri. Puffins also made a surprise appearance. In the afternoon, Humpbacks were very active, one even breached, and we saw feeding and social behaviors.

Today was sunny with a light breeze from the north. The sea was calm, and the clear sky made whale spotting easy, perfect conditions for whale watching.

During both the morning and afternoon tours, we saw many Humpback whales in different areas. Sometimes they swam alone, other times in small groups. The calm water allowed for clear views of their blows, backs, and tails. Guests enjoyed taking photos and watching quietly. In total, we estimate that around ten whales were seen across all boats. It was a beautiful, exciting day out on the water

Today in Eyjafjörður, the wind changed direction twice. It started from the south in the morning and later turned to the north in the afternoon. Despite this, the sea remained calm, not too wet, and the cloudy sky sometimes opened up to let warm sunshine through.

In the morning, we saw Propi east of the Green Buoy and later found Disy near Hjalteyri. Both are familiar Humpback whales we’ve seen several times recently, and they can be identified by their flukes—Disy’s is whiter than Propi’s.

The afternoon brought a magical surprise. Propi approached one of our boats, and we witnessed a rare Minke whale breaching, an unforgettable sight in this area.
