Another beautiful day when the fjord looks like a lake, with a bit of sun and not too much wind coming from the south.

In the morning we had just sailed past Svalbarðseyri when we came across five Humpback Whales. Humpback Whales are solitary whales and one was keeping to itself but the other four had paired up and was feeding next to each other. When one went down so did the other. They must have found a nice school of krill because they were moving slowly around in the same area, keeping to the east of the green bouy, and showing their beautiful flukes every time they went down for a deeper dive. They came really close to the boat several times, even swimming under it a coupe of times.

In the afternoon, we returned to the same area we had visited in the morning to see if the whales were still around, but they weren’t. Still, as experienced whale watchers, we know how to spot our favorite animals with our sharp eyes. So, we managed to spot two Humpback Whales near Hjalteyri, a bit further north than where we had seen activity earlier in the day. These Humpback whales were Disy and Propi, they were observed in the morning and in the previous days!
