As Holmasol cruised past the channel marker 30 minutes from Akureyri this morning we were all at attention.
Over the last few days any number of whales have been hanging around this area just south of the Hjateyri fish factory. Today we met two Humpback Whales. One was White Fang who is becoming a local favourite of ours often curious and always fluking high. The other is a whale called Morigan. Morigan arrived back in the fjord some days ago after we saw them for the first time at the start of the Summer. Lets hope this sizeable whale is just stopping by to say adios before they migrate south later this month.
The afternoon was much the same but the two Humpbacks had travelled northwards in the Fjord. Guests in the afternoon were also treated to sights of two smaller Fjord friends a Minke Whale and some Harbour Porpoises
