What an amazing day today in Eyjafjörður!

Sailing on a glassy sea under a bright blue sky is every whale watching guide’s dream. And when you add some wonderful whales to the mix, you have a day to remember!

On our morning tour, near the town of Hjalteyri, we spotted three Humpback whales. Once again, they were Dissy, Shadow and Iskona.

Northern Fulmars were, of course, flying around and keeping us entertained while we waited for the whales. But as you know, the waiting wasn’t too long! These chubby cetaceans are always busy feeding, spending no more than around 10 minutes at a time below the surface.

We also saw plenty of jellyfish, and I mean lots of jellyfish! Mainly Moon Jellyfish and Lion’s Mane Jellyfish.

And the tour wasn’t over yet on our way back. By the green buoy, we suddenly spotted a Minke whale surfacing very close to our boat, giving us one last surprise before heading back to shore.

In the afternoon…more Humpback Whales. The same three giving us a good show. Hopefully tomorrow the fun continues.
