Hello everybody!
The good weather is still with us today! This morning, the fjord was beautiful. Well, it is always beautiful, but today it was especially pretty, with no wind and a mirror-like sea. Even though the sky was covered with clouds, it created a magical atmosphere. So, with many layers under our overalls, we headed out in search of whales.
Not far from the harbour, by the green buoy, we spotted two Minke whales. Seeing these elegant whales was the perfect start to the tour. We stayed with them for a while before continuing north to look for something else. Soon, just north of the green buoy, we found four Humpback whales. Two of them, Jasper and Shadow, were swimming and diving in perfect synchronization.
After spending some lovely time with them, it was time to head back to Akureyri. But on the way back, north of Skjaldarvík, we found the same two Northern bottlenose whales we saw yesterday. It seems they love the fjord just as much as we love seeing them!
In the afternoon, with a little bit more wind we went to the same place were we spotted the same whales, 2 Minke whales keeping distance between each other and 4 Humpies.
With the fjord full of life, who wouldn’t want to join a tour with us?
See you tomorrow!!
