Beautiful sunny day and super calm sea in the fjord today!
On our Express tour we encountered a small pod of cute harbor porpoises southeast of green buoy. Since the conditions were so calm, we used the chance and turned of our engine, making our presence more friendly for porpoises, which are more sensitive to the sound of engine. It payed off! We saw them coming up few times and even logging at the surface very well! After that, we spend amazingly beautiful time just south and southeast of Hjalteyri with 4 different humpback whales!

We also enjoyed the company of Northern fulmars, marine birds related to albatrosses, gliding above sea surface just next to our boat and even coming to the boat, charming us, in hope to get some fish from us (as they get from fishermen often).

This afternoon, we headed out into Eyjafjörður under beautiful sunny skies. A northerly wind had picked up. After a short sail north, we reached Hjalteyri, where we soon spotted our favourite Humpback whale, Disy!
Every encounter with Disy seemed to bring her a little closer. She was becoming more and more curious about the boat, giving us some wonderful views as she surfaced nearby.

While watching Disy, we also spotted two other Humpback whales in the distance. Although they were too far away to approach, it was a beautiful reminder of just how much life Eyjafjörður has been holding lately.

It was a sunny afternoon filled with beautiful scenery, curious whales and some very special moments out on the fjord.

During the evening tour, apart from the Humpbacks we saw right after leaving the docking area, we also spotted two Northern bottlenose whales right in the harbour.
