Our morning tour started with cloudy skies and a little rain. But even with the bad weather, whale watching is always exciting! After a short sail towards Hjalteyri, we spotted our first whale blow just south of the village. Soon, we found two humpback whales feeding together and two more a bit further at the horizon. They were coming up to breathe, blowing and showing their beautiful flukes as they dived back down.
The whales were right in front of the beautiful orange Hjalteyri lighthouse, making a lovely scene with the mountains and sea in the background.

During the afternoon we made our way back to the morning hot spot where we found again 2 Humpback whales in a pair and a 3r one further north closer to Rauðavík. And on our last tour of the day we still found 2 Humpback whales together by the south of Hjalteyri, but the bet was a Minke whale who started jumping like crazy to the East of Hjalteyri.

It may have been a grey and rainy morning, but the whales definitely made it a great one.
