Today we sailed out in beautiful weather conditions. The fjord was calm like a lake, while the fog made the whole experience feel even more mysterious. In some places, we had beautiful visibility, while in others we were completely surrounded by fog.
As we sailed through the fjord, we spotted northern fulmars, guillemots, and other seabirds enjoying the quiet waters. Then we received information that another boat had found some whale spouts, so we changed direction and went looking for them.
And there she was our friendly humpback whale, Disy.
She was behaving just like the fjord: calm and peaceful. She took a few gentle breaths at the surface, showing us her beauty before preparing for another deep dive. She stayed underwater for about six minutes before surfacing again. This time, she approached the boat, giving us an incredible view of her.
Then, as gently as she had appeared, she raised her fluke and disappeared into the deep blue.
A peaceful fjord, mysterious fog, seabirds, and a beautiful humpback whale, what an unforgettable day on the water.
