Good morning everyone!

With a sunny and calm fjord, we headed out today to find some of the amazing wildlife we can see here in the fjord.

Our first encounters of the day were with two minke whales by the green buoy. One of them gifted us with several surfacings, sometimes coming very close to our boat.

After spending some time with the minke whales, we continued our way north, and by Raudavík we found not only a humpback whale, but Dissy, a humpback whale we have known since 2023.

The way back can sometimes feel like the end of the tour, but nothing could be further from the truth! Together with the beautiful scenery that Eyjafjörður offers us, we still have the chance to see more wildlife. And, of course, the cute harbour porpoises were there to make everyone fall in love with them.

In the afternoon still the sun on the sky and a calm Eyjafjörður made for a beautiful departure on our RIB boat speed tour. As we sailed further out into the fjord, the sunshine seemed to get brighter and the views around us even more spectacular.

Our destination was Raudavík, where we were hoping to find one of our familiar humpback whales.
And, as if she had been waiting for us there she was Dissy!

This time it felt like the encounter was just for us. With no other boats around we had the privilege of being the audience to Dissy’s beautiful surfacings and impressive fluking. She would disappear beneath the surface, leaving us wondering where she would appear next, before gracefully coming back up again.
But Dissy had one more surprise in store for us.

During our final sighting, she slowly approached our boat, bringing herself closer and closer until she was right alongside us. Then in a perfect farewell she lifted her enormous tail out of the water right next to the boat.
