This morning, we saw two Humpback whales feeding on the east side of Hrisey. They were taking quite long dives, about 15min, so we thought that the food must have been quite deep in the ocean. In Akureyri, the weather was very nice, quite sunny but a cold brise was coming from the North, and an army of clouds covered the sky from Grenivik.

In the afternoon, the rib did not reach to the Humpbacks since the weather was too bad and they turned around.

The afternoon classic-tour brought us beautiful Icelandic conditions out on Eyjafjörður. The sun was shining over the fjord, but the authentic northern breeze reminded us that summer in Iceland can still be wonderfully cold!
Our main highlight of the afternoon was one very special humpback whale. Our well loved Disy. We found her in an area of the fjord called Gljáin, a shallowwater area right in the middle of Eyjafjörður. This is one of our most frequently visited spots, as it often gives us the chance to enjoy some really nice and relaxed encounters with the whales.

And Disy certainly did not disappoint today. She has definitely developed her own character when she is fluking, and today she gave us a beautiful opportunity to simply sit back and watch her. As she prepared for each dive, her tail came up out of the water, giving us those wonderful moments where it feels almost as if she is inviting us to join her in her underwater world. It was a beautiful afternoon in Eyjafjörður a reminder of why we never get tired of exploring this fjord and its wildlife.
