Summer days are still here! The morning started with a strong sun and perfect sea conditions, we enjoyed the stunning views until SE of Hrisey we saw our Humpback whale Bob. We were able to see the fluke many times, even from quite close! The bird life kept us all entertained too: we saw a few puffins, fulmars, black guillemot and a lot of arctic terns.
In the afternoon, the wind picked up, creating a bit of a swell out in the fjord, we traveled towards the area of Gljáni and we met our well known Humpback whale Bob again! We were so lucky to have it so close to the boat a couple of times, fluking and diving.
Our 20:30 evening tour brought us another unforgettable encounter on Eyjafjörður.
The weather was calm, and before long we were surrounded by a wonderful pod of white-beaked dolphins. They seemed to be in a playful mood and put on a spectacular performance just for us.
For a while, it felt as if we were sharing their world. They stayed close to the boat, curious and energetic, making the most of the beautiful evening. Watching these incredible animals in their natural habitat is always a privilege, and this encounter was truly special.
Eventually, the dolphins slipped beneath the surface and disappeared into their underwater home, leaving us with unforgettable memories and plenty of happy faces on board.
Nature always has a way of surprising us, and tonight the white-beaked dolphins reminded us just how magical life on the fjord can be.
