Today the sky was cloudy, but the wind was SW and quite mild. But strong enough that was making the fjord quite choppy. But we all know it is perfectly fine if it is not sunny, because the whales don’t mind the weather. Today we spoted a Minke whale by Svalbarðseyri, and as we kept sailing north we also encountered N of Svalbarðseyri Proppy (the Humpback whale), a Minke whale and some Harbour porpoises. We don’t know what the rest of the day will bring but the morning was nice!

During the afternoon tours the most unexpected thing happened. We indeed encountered our Humpback whale again, but for the cherry on top to the E of Hjalteyri we also spotted a pod of Bottle Nose whales. Needless to say it was quite amazing. As it always is when we get the chance to observe these rare deep diving species.

during the midnight tour we found Proppy one more N of Svalbarðseyri and to everyone’s surprise it did a breach and a head lunge. Leaving everyone with a smile on the face.
