Good morning from another windy day in the fjord.

Today, the whales were a bit farther away than yesterday. We had to sail to the south of Hrísey, where we spotted a humpback whale. During the morning tour, it was a bit tricky to watch as it was mostly travelling and didn't show its fluke very often. Despite this, we were able to recognise it from yesterday, and it turned out to be our new whale, Petr, named after our lovely colleague from the office.

In the afternoon, the wind picked up, and some of our tours were unable to reach the whale, as it had moved a bit farther north, all the way to the lighthouse. However, those that made it were rewarded with the sight of at least four different humpback whales bubble-net feeding. Personally, this was the first time I have seen bubble-net feeding so clearly at the surface. The whales didn't seem to mind our presence and continued feeding right beside our boat, Hólmasól.

On the way to the lighthouse, we also briefly spotted a minke whale travelling north, as well as a small pod of white-beaked dolphins. However, once we received the information about the bubble-net feeding, we were eager to reach the area.

Even though it was windy today, it was another great day in the fjord. Hopefully tomorrow all of our tours will have an easier time reaching the whales, as we love being able to share these incredible moments with all of our guests.
