We had calm sea in the morning, and choppy and wavy later in the day. On our morning tours we saw a minke whale, near Dagverðareyri, very nicely, for a couple of times, and another one passing us by (NE of green buoy) while riding north. Further north, at the Gljani area, there was a humpback whale. It was diving for 8 minutes and stayed for few longer breaths while on the surface. It also fluked up few times so we saw its majestic tail.

During the afternoon and evening tours, the wind picked up, making it a bit harder to find the whales. Nevertheless, we were lucky enough to spot a humpback whale, our very own "Vaquita J.Lo." We found it near Hjalteyri, swimming north and south, and every now and then it surfaced close to the boat, giving everyone a great view.

As for the birdlife, we saw many northern fulmars effortlessly surfing the waves, groups of common guillemots with their chicks already out on the water, and flocks of Arctic terns showing off their incredible fishing skills.

Let's hope the wind eases tomorrow so we can continue enjoying whale watching in the fjord. Whale watching is not just about seeing whales, it's about learning to appreciate them, understand them, and be inspired to protect them.

And one final reminder: while you're in Iceland, please avoid eating whale meat.
