One species…two species…THREE species….NO…..FOUR SPECIES. Such magical scenes where given to the lucky lucky few who ventured on our 2 o'clock rib boat today. But all our morning tours were blessed with sightings of at least two species today. With AMAZING sightings of both Northern bottlenose whales and over 100 Pilot whales only 20 minutes outside the harbour in Krossaness. The 2 o’clock Express had to venture much further out to the island of Hrisey to add a Minke and Humpback whale to an impressively vibrant day in the fjord.

In the afternoon, we didn’t find the northern bottlenose whales, but we enjoyed the company of the pilot whales by the town of Hauganes. Then, to everyone’s surprise, we suddenly spotted a blow right in the middle of the pod. It belonged to a humpback whale, which surfaced a few times before raising its tail for a deep dive. We then continued watching the pilot whales, and after a few minutes, we spotted another humpback in the distance. We approached it and had a great look, but unfortunately, it was time to head home.

For the bird nerds, the fjord is still full of life. The baby Arctic terns are starting to appear, and it’s incredibly cute to see them alongside the adults, who are still busy feeding them.

During the midnight tour, the win went down and the sunset was beautiful. We went to Raudavik where we saw two humpback whales feeding actively. We even had one of them breaching once next to us!
