Good morning, everyone!

Today was an amazing day in the fjord, as we spotted up to three different species: harbour porpoises, northern bottlenose whales, and humpback whales. But let's start from the beginning.

In the morning, only one of our boats was able to make it all the way north of Hrísey. There, we found a humpback whale, and to everyone's surprise, it treated us to several spectacular breaches. Later, near the town of Hjalteyri, we were very lucky to encounter a group of northern bottlenose whales. With this species, we have to be a bit more patient, as they usually stay underwater much longer than the other whales we commonly see in the fjord. However, after waiting for around 15 minutes, they resurfaced, and they did so very close to us. What a gift!

In the afternoon, we heard that the humpback had travelled a little farther south, so we were able to reach it with our bigger boat, Hólmasol. We spent some wonderful time with it as it surfaced close to us, making everyone on board very happy. We also had some bird lovers with us today, and they were in for a treat as well. We spotted puffins, common and black guillemots, razorbills, northern fulmars, Arctic terns, and more. After saying goodbye to the humpback whale, some guests suddenly shouted, "Whales!"—and there they were again! The northern bottlenose whales had resurfaced once more.

What an amazing, sunny day in the fjord! We can't wait to be back out on the water again tomorrow.
