Whale hello everyone!
Today we woke up to a very calm fjord, although it was still cloudy and rainy. Luckily, whales don’t seem to mind the weather, and neither do we, so we headed out in search of them.
Early this morning, while boarding our largest boat, Holmasol, we got a wonderful surprise: a Humpback whale right inside the harbour! However, by the time we were ready to begin the tour, it had disappeared from sight, so we set course north.
Not long after leaving the harbour, near the Husky Lodge and very close to shore, we spotted a relaxed humpback whale cruising around. After spending some time enjoying its company, we continued our journey and soon found a Minke whale and a few groups of Harbour porpoises near the green buoy.
Later, a little farther north, around the Big Strytan geothermal chimney, we encountered another humpback whale, making it a fantastic day out on the fjord despite the rainy weather.
In the afternoon, only our RIB boat Solfar headed out for a tour. This time, the rain had finally stopped and the sea remained as calm as a mirror.
We had to travel a bit farther north, up to Grenivík, where we found two Humpback whales. One of them was our well-known friend Proppy, who delighted us by surfacing very close to the boat, giving everyone an incredible view. With such calm conditions and these amazing encounters, it was a wonderful way to end the day on the fjord.
