Today was partially cloudy, but the sun was shining on us every now and then. Strong wind from the south west made the fjord quite choppy so our passengers got a bit splashed, but the whales were very nice to us and where swimming in a very sheltered area which was quite flat. On the way out, our first encounter was a Minke whale in the area of Gáseyri. It didn’t really looked like the whale was amused by our presence so we decided to keep sailing until we reached the more sheltered area of Hjalteyri, where we found 2 Humpback whales swimming side by side and a sneaky minke around as well. During the afternoon tours the wind dropped considerably flattening the fjord so we had a smoother sail. South of Hjalteyri we encountered a very stinky minke, we in fact located the animal through the smell! But that lead us to a blow North of Hjaltery belonging to a Humpback whale. In the Classic afternoon tour, we spotted 2 minke whales, near Gaseyri, of which we stayed with one, because it was coming up nicely for few breaths, giving us plenty of time to see it. Just after we left, in search for other whales, the same minke breached couple of times, fully above the sea surface! After that, we were watching a humpback while at the sandbank of Laufasgrunn, at the only 1.3 meter depth!
