What an amazing day at sea today!
Today we got blessed with a great spectacle! Lunge feeding humpback whales right in front of our boats! There were 4 humpback whales feeding in the same area, near Brimnes. Three of them, Proppy and 2 others, were surface lunge feeding and maintaining physical contact with each other. Rolling, showing its’s white-pinkish expanded throats, raising their tails half way above the surface, flipper slapping and making peculiar low sounds.
We also enjoyed watching 2 minke whales and numerous pods of harbor porpoises. The porpoises were fairly easy to spot, as they were making splashes while chasing the fish in high speed, leaping above the surface, and were accompanied by flocks of birds - kittiwakes and Arctic terns, also feeding frenzy.
