Hello, dear readers!

A chilly but sunny morning in Akureyri turned into a cloudy and rainy afternoon.

During the morning tours, we spotted a Minke whale near the town of Svalbarðseyri. The first thing we saw was a big blow, so we all thought it belonged to a Humpback whale, as Minkes are a bit smaller and their blows are rarely visible. But there it was, a big Minke whale close by! We managed to see it a few times, but it soon disappeared, so we headed out to find more wildlife.

Far from the coast, but with the town of Hjalteyri visible in the distance, we found three Humpback whales: Proppy, Morrigan, and Tripod.

Once again, Tripod behaved very similarly to yesterday, surfacing very close to our boat and allowing us to appreciate just how big it is compared to the other two, slightly smaller Humpbacks.

In the afternoon, the rain started in Akureyri. But we left early enough to avoid it! We found the same humpback whales at the same spot and got a lot of sightings. When we turned around to go back to town, the rain caught up on us, so we enjoyed a hot chocolate while looking at landscape by the windows talking about this amazing time we just had.
