Hello!
Another glassy fjord today, with no wind, no waves, and not even a drop of rain.
Once again, the whales were not far from Akureyri! Just north of Svalbarðseyri, by the green buoy, we found a Minke whale diving for very short periods. While waiting for her to resurface, we also spotted Harbour porpoises.
After spending some time with the Minke whale, we continued sailing. Right by Big Strýtan, a truly unique spot in the fjord thanks to its towering hydrothermal chimney, we found two Humpback whales we know very well: Proppy and Popeye.
Luckily, in the afternoon, the same whales were still in the same spots. That's not always the case! So, we got to see the Minke whale by the green buoy again, along with some Harbour porpoises, and the two Humpbacks east of Strýtan. This time, however, the Humpbacks were diving for a little longer.
Another perfect day to learn from and about these majestic creatures. Don't miss your chance to join one of our tours!
