Today began with bright sunshine and a light southerly breeze, leaving the sea calm and perfect for whale watching in our fjord.

In the morning, just east of the Green buoy, we spotted a humpback whale we’ve been seeing over the past few days. It seems to enjoy staying in this area. The whale repeatedly dove, showing its tail each time, but only for short intervals of about five minutes. Because of this, it surfaced often, giving us plenty of chances to watch and enjoy its presence.

In the afternoon, the wind picked up a bit. We decided to go further, close to Raudavik, to check out some whales there. We ended up seeing three humpback whales, and we even recognised Piccolo. A long-time resident that have been coming back every year over the summer. The wind was strong from the South, and people were happy to enjoy a cup of hot chocolate to warm themself up.
