This Saturday was rainy, but the sea conditions were perfect for heading out to see whales. Rain is part of daily life in Iceland, so it never stops us.

We had two tours, one in the morning and another in the afternoon, and both were quite similar. Between the Green Buoy and Hjalteyri, we encountered two Humpback whales that were busy feeding. In the morning, we even got to watch some lunge feeding. North of Hjalteyri, we came across two more Humpback whales, one of them was “Dissy,” also known as DC. The name comes from a guide who thought the tail pattern looked like the letters D and C (check the photos!). This whale has been around all summer, and it seems to love the area as much as we do.

All in all, it was a lovely rainy day in the fjord, filled with whales.
