Good day, whale watchers. We had a lovely morning, the fjörð was very nice and completely flat, and it’s stayed like this throughout the day! The sun was coming, sometimes hiding behind the clouds, yet it was mostly sunny.
The first sighting was of a Humpback whale south of Hjalteyri. And guess what... It was our beloved Disy. Because of the star-like pattern on its tail. We have seen this whale in our fjörð since the summer of 2015, so you can appreciate how big it is compared to little Disy. She is one of the few whales we know for a fact is a female Humpback. Her name comes from a set of markings on her fluke spelling Dis”
During the afternoon tours, we headed South of Hjalteyri again. On the hope of finding again Disy. And there she was! this time feeding. But that was not all, during the afternoon, she was feeling rather curious. Ending multiple diving sequences right next to the boat.
