Today was cloudy but not foggy, giving us good visibility in the fjord. The morning began calmly with no wind, and in the afternoon, a light breeze picked up, though it wasn’t strong. It was also really very warm.
During the morning tour, we spotted a Humpback whale heading south near the green buoy. It was diving for about five minutes at a time and showing its tail on every dive, making for a wonderful sighting. Later, near Hjalteyri, we encountered more Humpback whales, and our boats were treated to several tail displays. Overall, it was a beautiful morning in the fjord.
Throughout the day, we saw two Humpbacks by the green buoy, another near Svalbardseyri, two more at Hjalteyri, and three in Raudavik. One of the humpbacks treated us to a spectacular display of tail slaps, a highlight for everyone on board. A total of 8 Humpback Whales.
Alongside the humpbacks, we also spotted 2 Minke Whale and a few Harbour Porpoises, rounding off a wonderful day of sightings.
