Today was one of those incredible days. It was around 12 degrees, the sun was shining, the sea was completely flat and glassy, and we had at least five Humpback Whales and two Minke Whales in the fjord.

We did not have to travel far before we were surrounded by at least five Humpback Whales feeding south of Hjalteyri and east of the green bouy. They were all moving really slowly in the area, busy feeding. Sometimes showing a fluke when going down for a deeper dive, sometimes not when surface feeding. We could just turned off the engine of our boat and sit there and watch the show taking place in front of us. Occasionally some of the Humpback Whales got really close to the boat, making you feel very small in comparison.

We also got to see two Minke Whales in the distance, feeding a bit futher away from the Humpback Whales.

When we were leaving the area we were almost held hostage by the whales, that was continuing to come up close to the boat making it really hard for us to drive away. We hope the whales will stay in the same area until tomorrow.
