Today in our lovely Eyjafjorður we had the most changing day, weather wise… On the morning tours we sailed out through the thickest fog. As if we were sailing next to the Black Pearl! But you whale lovers know that our favorite marine mammals don’t mind the weather. Our sightings were of 4 Humpback whales N Rauðavík. But it was exceptionally flat sea so it was quite delightful.
During the afternoon the fog cleared up in some areas and we got more access to the sun, to find under a busy flock of Black-legged Kittiwakes an equally busy pod of Harbor Porpoises on a feeding frenessy; this was happening just N Hjalteyri. And who was waiting for us N Svalbarðseyri? My favorite Humpback whale, Khaleesi.
Finally during our 1st 1700 O'clock tour of the season we saw the dream team Khaleesi and Marcus feeding together NE Svalbarðsayri. And what a sight fog completely gone and amazing blue skies.
