The summer decided to arrive today. It was really warm winds out in the fjord and the sun was shining.
We had just past Svalbarðseyri when we came across the first group of Humpback Whales. We followed three Humpback Whales heading south together, all going down for a deep dive at the same time, one after the other showing their flukes. More Humpback Whales showed up and giving us multiply close encounters. When we were about to leave we got one last encounter with a Humpback Whale that came up next to the boat, arching its back before giving us a beautiful goodbye fluke.
The afternoon Express Tour was a blast. We rarely have such high temperature in May. We started spotting a Minke whale a few minutes after exiting the harbor, close to Svalbarðseyri. We then headed North and saw 2 humpback whales close to the green Bouey. The first one seemed to be resting, while the other one was more actively feeding.
