The morning was so windy it stopped us from going out on our first tour. It had calmed down a bit in the afternoon which allowed us to set sail, and we are glad we did because it was a magical tour.

We had sailed less then 15 minutes when we encountered a Minke Whale as well as a Humpback Whale south of Svalbarðseyri. The Minke Whale was going around in circles feeding, whereas the Humpback Whale came up out of nowhere next to the boat giving us incredible looks of it.

We continued sailing out in the fjord and just north of Hjalteyri we came across at least five Humpback Whales. One of them was giving us an amazing wave with its big white pectoral fin. We followed three of the Humpback Whales which were heading south and they gave us several close up encounters and flukes.

We felt extremely lucky to get these beautiful encounters.
