We sailed out from a blue-skied Akureyri into a very smooth, mirror-like fjord under the ghost of the super moon that had still been immense in the sky the past night. As we slowly travelled in search of some lovely whales, we quickly started spotting some blows N Svalberðseyri. We encountered a Minke whale surfacing steadily. Seeing its blows in the distance due to the cold morning air.

After a while, we sailed in search of something larger… Finding the Humpback whale Piccolo South of Strýtan. Surfacing everywhere around us, very calmly as we turned off the boat and enjoyed the noise of the whale’s blow.

But we were also spotting a second blow on the distance, which led us to a 2nd Humpback whale. Mean while the sun was starting to come out from behind the clouds. This left us with a sunny day ahead of us.
