We sailed out of Akureyri into a calm fjord, the morning sun peeking through drifting clouds. Near Rauðavík, a Minke whale surfaced beside us—quiet, effortless, magnificent.
Farther north, S Hauganes, the sea came alive. Six Humpback whales fed around our boat, rising and diving in a rhythm older than time. Their deep breaths echoed across the still water, a reminder of the wild heart that beats beneath Iceland’s northern fjords.
During the afternoon tours, we headed back to the same area, encountering the same delightful six Humpback whales.
