Winter has settled in for good. At -2°C, snow followed us all day, though the sun occasionally peeked through the clouds to light up the fjord.
In Rauðavík, a minke whale surfaced, its sleek back gliding through the icy water. Further north, east of Hauganes, two humpbacks appeared — their breath rising like mist against the snowy sky.
By afternoon, the snow eased and the swell picked up. We sailed more East, where, outside of Grenevík, we met a single humpback whale, calm and steady in the cold light. On our way back, east of Rauðavík, a feeding minke whale completed the day — a perfect reminder that even in winter, the fjord is alive and thriving.
3 Humpback whales, 2 Minke whales, and many cheeky Harbour porpoises greeted us throughout the day.
