The mornings in Akureyri are suddenly very dark, but this day we had warm winds and when the sun came up over the mountains it turned into a beautiful morning.

In the morning tours we headed straight out to Hauganes, which have been the hotspot for the humpback whales the last couple of days and sure enough, two humpbacks were hanging around. One of them was very calm and curious. It had a white beautiful fluke and came close to the boat several times. We could turn off the engine and just wait for it to come up for another breath.

The afternoon was very similar, back out to Hauganes where the two humpbacks from this morning had been joined by a third humpback that we know as White Fang. As both the sea and the whales were so calm we turned off the engines and just like this morning the humpbacks came really close to the boat. We could again marvel at how big they are.
