Today we had a strong wind blowing from the Soutwest so that there was quite some movement in the fjord, but there were only a few clouds and no rain. Thankfully around 6 humpbacks had decided to swim very far into the fjord so that we found them just 10 minutes outside of Akureyri. This time the humpbacks did not group together but rather seemed to stay separated. Therefore we ended up spending our time with mainly 3 individuals one of them being our beloved Dark Knight. It was great for our passengers to see one humpback very, very close and parallel to the boat just underneath the water surface to realize that most of these whales are longer than our 9 meter Rib boat. We got sprayed by the waves quite a bit, but that did not stop us from enjoying these majestic creatures for over an hour before heading back. A nice afternoon out in Eyjafjördur.
