The day started with sunny skies and very calm sea conditions. Our first Humpback whale appeared just south of Hjalteyri, and we were incredibly lucky to see it several times. At one point, it even dived closer to the boat! We then spotted our second Humpback closer to the area of Strytan, but we knew there was still another whale somewhere in the Rauðavik area!
During the afternoon tour, the sky was still clear with bright sunshine, but at Hjalteyri, there was a fog threatening to cover the fjord. Right there, we spotted two humpback whales, Disy and Kirk. Suddenly, Kirk surprised us with three spectacular breaches that left us absolutely speechless. That looked like a social interaction between the two whales and what followed was their meeting and then synchronized diving. Specatcular!
