Hello everyone!

Today was quite windy in the fjord. We had a strong southerly wind that made it easy to reach the whale, but made the ride back a bit more adventurous!

During the morning tour, we spotted a Humpback Whale near Hjalteyri. We were able to observe it several times as it came to the surface for a short rest before diving back down again. By looking at the pattern on its fluke and its distinctive, pointy dorsal fin, we were able to identify this whale as Popeye.

We always remind our guests during the tour how magical it is to see these incredible creatures in the wild, and that because of this, we cannot always expect them to come as close to the boat as we might wish.

However, this particular humpback surfaced close to the boat several times, giving us some wonderful close-up sightings! It was a beautiful encounter and a great way to start the day.
