This morning started off really cold and a little cloudy, but the conditions out at sea were perfect. There was barely any wind, and the sea was wonderfully flat as we made our way towards Hjalteyri. As we reached the area, we suddenly started seeing blows all around us! Three Humpback whales were feeding and moving around together, and they even came incredibly close to the boat, giving us some amazing views. Further in the distance, we also spotted our well-known Disy and Shadow, and throughout the whole two-hour Express Whale Watching tour, we were lucky enough to see more than seven Humpback whales in total!
In the afternoon, we headed back towards Hjalteyri, where we spotted four Humpback whales. Two were travelling together, while the other two were in the same general area but keeping their distance from one another. The sun even came out during the afternoon, lighting up the sea and making for some beautiful conditions, although the wind had picked up quite a bit!
