Today was a rainy day out on the fjord, but the weather didn’t stop us from having some lovely encounters. The sea was calm, making for a comfortable sail, and as the day went on, the wind became even lighter.
We didn’t have to sail far today. Just next to the green buoy, we came across some Harbour Porpoises on our way out of the harbour. These small and quick cetaceans can be tricky to spot, so it was a lovely surprise to see them so close to home!
Just a little further on, we found two Humpback Whales feeding right next to the green buoy. They were busy feeding in the area, giving us some wonderful opportunities to watch their natural behaviour in the calm conditions.
And then came a particularly special moment with our well-known Humpback, Disy. While we were watching her, she suddenly lifted her tail and gave us a spectacular tail slap! A beautiful surprise and definitely one of those moments that reminds us how unpredictable and special whale watching can be.
