The morning started quite windy, but the sun was shining, bringing the temperatures a little higher and giving us the last glimpses of summer. As we sailed towards the area south of Hjalteyri, we spotted our first blow, followed by a second one in the distance, and then another one even farther away! We soon realised we were in the company of at least three humpback whales. We had the chance to see our beloved Disy and Gills up close so many times!

The afternoon started with beautiful sunshine. The wind had almost completely died down, and the sea became calmer and calmer as we sailed towards Hjalteyri. It was a perfect day for whale watching. Once we reached the area, we were lucky enough to find our two beloved humpback whales, Disy and Gills.
They were feeding side by side, giving us some amazing views as they came up to the surface. Every now and then, they disappeared for a deeper dive, leaving behind huge fluke prints on the surface of the water.
These moments are exactly what we dream of when we go whale watching. Two humpback whales feeding together, a calm sea and sunshine all around us made for a truly special afternoon.
It was the perfect way to end an already amazing day out in Eyjafjörður.
