Some people dreads Mondays… But not us, what today brought was unbelievable! As we sailed on a slightly cloudy morning from Akureyri, we made our way through a choppy fjord. We first encountered a Minke whale by Rauðavík but quickly after our captain Jacob called us over the radio because he had seen a large blow E of Rauðavík. And it turned out to be a small Sperm whale! Needles to say every single passenger, guide and captain was awestruck, since the last time we saw a Sperm whale inside our fjord was in 2019.

After lunch unfortunately the little cute sperm whale was gone, but we found by the S of Hrísey island our mate, Bob the Humpback whale. This afternoon, we were lucky enough to spend time with two incredible minke whales. It was a truly unforgettable experience as we watched them gracefully swim through the water.

The highlight of the trip was an amazing close encounter. One of the whales came near our boat, giving us a breathtaking view and a moment we'll never forget. Seeing these magnificent animals up close in their natural habitat was both exciting and humbling.
