A calm, glass-like sea greeted us this morning, on our 9.00 o’clock classic tour, creating very good viewing conditions. Our first sighting was a minke whale near Gáseyri that came quite close to the boat! We then headed north and were rewarded with a humpback whale near Rauðuvík, fluking many times As if that wasn't enough, another humpback whale appeared near Noll on our way back! A little rain didn’t stop us on our 13.00 classic tour, near the green buoy, we encountered a feeding minke whale, instead north of Stryta, a humpback whale was resting calmly at the surface, before another or the same energetic minke whale greeted us once again near Svalbarðseyri on our return journey. Stronger winds and choppier seas made for an adventurous 17.00 o’clock classic tour. After heading north to Haganes, we found a humpback whale lunge-feeding and putting on an incredible show. We stayed with the whale for quite some time as it continued feeding, while some seabirds were taking advantage of the fish brought to the surface.
On the midnight tour we found a Humpback heading North next to Strytan. We decided to not chase it since it was moving and ended up finding a very nice Minke lunge feeding next to Hauganes.
