Calm sea conditions continued today as well, perfect for spotting whales! We went out with two RIB boats and Konsul, our boat today for the classic tours. Very soon after departure, we were very lucky to spot a few harbour porpoises. We continued sailing north, and northwest of Hjalteyri we spotted a humpback whale, a very well-known whale that has been seen in the fjord since 2019. Its name is Proppy. It was showing very relaxed surface behaviour and displaying its flukes high above the surface. We were also very lucky to spot three minke whales: two very close by, and a third in the distance.
Regarding birdlife, the fjord is waking up, and northern fulmars, arctic terns, black guillemots, and kittiwakes accompanied us throughout the day.
