Eyjafjörður full of wildlife today!
No wind and a sunny day, so we headed out to look for whales. Not far from Akureyri, we spotted a shy Humpback Whale that allowed us to see it only once, without showing its fluke. We decided to go a bit further, and by Gljáni we found three Humpback Whales.
Two of them, Piccolo and another individual that we still need to identify, were coming very close to the boat and staying together throughout the encounter.
There must be plenty of food in the fjord today, because in the distance, south of Hrísey, we could see more and more blows appearing on the horizon.
But it wasn't only about Humpback Whales today. South of Hjalteyri, we came across a good number of active and hungry Harbour Porpoises feeding together, surrounded by plenty of seagulls.
And just when we thought we couldn't see anything else, we spotted a Minke Whale north of Svalbarðseyri.
What a day! Cold… very cold today, but absolutely worth going out.
