Today was a beautifully sunny day with clear blue skies and no wind. We had to put on some sun protection, and the fjord looked bright and sparkling. It was the perfect setting to head out and see the whales.
In the morning, we enjoyed a full tour and were lucky enough to spot the three most common species found in the fjord. Between the green buoy and Hjalteyri, we saw a Minke whale, several Harbor Porpoises, and of course, our superstar species, the Humpback whales. The Minke whale surfaced several times, giving us a great view, which was a special treat since they can often be quite shy around boats. The Humpbacks were especially impressive, occasionally lifting their tails and putting on a great show.
In the afternoon, we encountered Humpback whales and a Minke whale once again, the same individuals from the morning, behaving much as they had earlier in the day.
