Good afternoon, here’s a quick peak into the situation in the fjord. As usual, morning was windless, cloudy.

We expect later this afternoon potential rain, wind is going to pick up slightly but nothing serious.

We had to go this morning all the way to the mouth of the fjord, about 55 kilometers far! That is about the farthest we have been going this season. Unfortunately two of our departures were unable to see any whales due to the fact, that they were this far. This is part of nature and we do not have any control over the animals.

On other departures so far we have been lucky to see a very nice show. There was a group of 3 Humpbacks surrounded by pod of White beaked dolphins. This interaction was quite a sight as we could hear the whales trumpeting and rolling. One would wish to see what is happening under the surface. These interactions are very rare and we also do not see group of three Humpbacks every day. Talking about the dolphins, we have seen them about 5 times this year so far. Crazy encounter!

This afternoon, we saw same number of Humpbacks but they were not swimming side by side anymore. In the south of Olafsfjörður a megapod formed. Could be more than 100 White beaked dolphins.
Minke Whale encounters South of Hrísey to top this day.

This was a dolphin day!
