With calm seas and clear skies, our first tour of the day began in the best possible conditions. The whales, however, had different plans for us , they led us on a bit of an adventure, all the way to the end of the fjord near Hrólfssker.
There, we were rewarded with the sight of three humpback whales, including one that surfaced for few times close to our boat , an unforgettable moment for everyone on board!.
Soon after, we received reports of a pod of white-beaked dolphins and Northern Bottlenose whale to the west. Naturally, we couldn't resist and set course to find them. The pod of white beaked dolphins included several calves, making the encounter even more special.
Time flew by, and we had to start heading back to port. But nature had one last surprise in store, a brief, yet exciting sighting of a minke whale on the return journey.
As we passed near Hrísey Island, we were treated to views of a wide variety of seabirds: Puffins, Common and black guillemots, norther fulmars, arctic terns, arctic skuas…, adding the perfect finishing touch to a beautiful outing.
The afternoon and evening tours brought a similar adventure, once again taking us all the way to Hrólfssker, where several humpback whales were waiting to greet us.
