Light snow fell over the mighty mountains surrounding our beloved fjord in the days leading up to today; you can feel the crispness in the air, but that’s not going to stop us! We’re ready to set sail for adventure.
This morning’s first tours have been nothing short of spectacular. The sea was calm and generous, the scenery absolutely breathtaking, and the whales... oh, the whales were simply amazing! We spotted up to five humpback whales around Rauðuvík, just north of Hjalteyri. We even caught a glimpse of what looked like a minke whale gliding along the coast.
In the afternoon we watched a pair of humpbacks swimming closely together in perfect harmony, gracing us with their elegant shapes and those iconic tails. Meanwhile, on one of our other boats, guests were lucky enough to witness breaching whales and curious snouts peeking out of the water a heart-melting sight for everyone onboard!
In the evening and in the midnight tour the Humpback Whales had moved further north and we came across the same pair just outside Hauganes. North of Hjalteyri another Humpback Whale were feeding, and so was a Minke Whale.
