The day was sunny but quite cold and a lot of wind, but it turned out to be a perfect day for whale watching.

This morning, we had sailed less then 15 minutes when we encountered at least five Humpback Whales just north of Svalbarðseyri. They were busy feeding and were swimming slowly all around us. One Humpback Whale was even lunge feeding, putting its head out of the water. Another Humpback Whale was in the perfect position towards the sun, so it looked like it was spouting rainbows. We also saw a Minke Whale in further away.

When we continued sailing further north in the fjord we came across another group of around three Humpback Whales, south east of Hjalteyri. It is amazing to have all these whales in the fjord.

In the afternoon, the whales were more sprayed out but we still got lucky enough to see 5 Humpback whales! Some of them were lunge feeding again which is always amazing to see.

We are looking forward to another show from the Humpback Whales tomorrow.
