Today, sunny skies greeted us, but the air temperature was -14 degrees. The fjord was flat, and we sailed over to the south of Hjalteyri, where we found 1 Humpback whale surfacing right in front of us. However, as we waited for it for 13 minutes, we headed to a pair of Humpbacks who were sleeping and very slowly swimming. We stayed with them for a bit until suddenly another Humpback whale N of Hjalteyri started tail slapping like crazy. We didn’t make it on time to witness the whale tail, but we soon realised it was also 2 Humpback whales together, and we stayed with them for the remainder of our tour. A total of 5 Humpback whales.
