Strong winds followed us today, but the surrounding mountains kept the fjord relatively calm.

We spent the morning and afternoon at S Hjalteyri, with White Fang, a familiar humpback whale easily recognized by its white markings. The whale stayed close to our vessel, allowing for excellent behavioural observations and photo identification.

The fjord was lively with seabirds and Harbour porpoises throughout the day, a reminder of how these sheltered waters provide vital feeding and resting areas for a variety of marine species.
